Vegan Beauty

Last night I was cleaning out my beauty stash and came across a long forgotten about box of Logona Naturkosmetic's herbal hair dye in chestnut brown. It contains henna, walnut shells and beetroot to achieve the colour. I had bought it on a whim, several months ago, but was unsure about using it as it seemed like a messy venture, compared to standard home dye kits ( but without the plethora of nasty chemicals). I decided to embrace my inner hippie and give it a go.
To begin, I had to mix the hair colour pack with water (or black tea for a darker effect) and whisk it up until it formed a creamy texture and apply to hair in sections. I had to pop on the warming cap for 1-2 hours to wait for the colour to develop. The problem with herbal dyes is that they generally just contain tint, not developer, so unless your hair is fair, it's difficult to achieve an intense colour if that's what you're after. My natural hair is dark brown and I hadn't dyed for over a year prior to this but I still have noticeable low lights. It's naturally curly so it can often become dull (from years of dyeing) so I was hoping this dye would enhance my natural colour and add some shine.
The final result from Naturkosmetic's gave my hair a very subtle, natural lift. There wasn't really a noticeable difference in the colour but my hair felt softer and looked healthier. I would definitely use it again to add some warm texture to my hair.
Loguna Naturkosmetik is available from Health Wise, 1 Main Guard Street, Galway.
